CHRONIC STRESS + BURNOUT THERAPY
When holding it all together is quietly pulling you apart.
For the ones who keep showing up, pushing through, and taking care of everything, even when there's nothing left to give.
In person in El Dorado Hills + online throughout California.
You're exhausted from a life you somehow keep managing.
You get things done. You show up. You're the one people count on.
You've become so good at managing the demands of life that most people wouldn't know just how much you're struggling beneath the surface.
Your mind rarely stops. Your body carries tension you barely notice anymore. Rest feels uncomfortable, slowing down feels impossible, and even when everything is technically fine, you can't quite shake the feeling that something isn't.
Maybe you've started feeling disconnected from the people you love. Maybe you're more irritable, less patient, or struggling to find joy in things that once felt meaningful.
Or maybe you've simply reached a place where you're tired of being the person who can handle everything.
Somewhere along the way, surviving your life started taking the place of actually living it.
And you're beginning to wonder if there's another way.
WHEN STRESS BECOMES YOUR NORMAL
You've learned to function through the overwhelm. But at what cost?
Your mind never really turns off.
Constant planning, overthinking, anticipating what comes next, and feeling unable to fully relax, even when there's nothing urgent to do.
Your body is carrying the weight.
Persistent tension, fatigue, disrupted sleep, headaches, or feeling simultaneously exhausted and wired.
Everyone's needs come before your own.
You're the dependable one, the caretaker, the problem solver. Saying no feels difficult, and asking for help feels even harder.
You're functioning, but no longer fulfilled.
Going through the motions, losing motivation, feeling emotionally numb, or wondering when life stopped feeling like your own.
When your nervous system forgets how to rest.
THE MIND + BODY CONNECTION
Chronic stress isn't simply having too much on your plate. It's what can happen when your mind and body spend prolonged periods responding to pressure, responsibility, uncertainty, or emotional strain without adequate opportunities to recover.
Your nervous system is designed to respond to challenges. But when those challenges rarely let up, your stress response can become more easily activated, leaving you feeling constantly alert, overwhelmed, or depleted.
For some, this looks like anxiety, hypervigilance, and an inability to slow down.
For others, it looks like exhaustion, emotional numbness, disconnection, or what many describe as functional freeze, continuing to move through daily responsibilities while feeling internally shut down.
And for many, it's a constant cycle between the two.
The very patterns that helped you manage life may now be the patterns keeping you from experiencing it fully.
Understanding those patterns is an important part of finding your way toward something different.
A DIFFERENT WAY OF LIVING
You deserve more than simply getting through the day.
Imagine having space to…
Rest without earning it.
Begin releasing the belief that your worth is measured by how much you accomplish, manage, or give to others.
Feel safe enough to slow down.
Develop a more compassionate relationship with your body and learn ways to respond to stress without constantly living in overdrive.
Make room for your own needs.
Explore the expectations, boundaries, and relationship patterns that have kept you putting yourself last.
Reconnect with the person beneath the responsibilities.
Rediscover what brings you joy, meaning, connection, and a sense of being fully present in your own life.
Our Approach
We don't just want to help you manage the stress. We want to understand what's keeping you there.
At The Path Wellness Center, we approach chronic stress and burnout through a compassionate, trauma-informed, and whole-person lens.
We recognize that chronic stress isn't always the result of a demanding schedule. Sometimes it's rooted in years of conditioning, unresolved emotional experiences, relationship dynamics, or deeply held beliefs about who you need to be to feel valued, loved, or safe.
Together, we explore not only what you're carrying, but why you've felt responsible for carrying it.
Depending on your needs, our work may integrate somatic and nervous system-based interventions, Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed parts work, EMDR, Brainspotting, and relational approaches.
We help you develop practical tools for regulation while creating space to explore the deeper patterns that contribute to chronic stress.
Because meaningful change isn't just about finding better ways to cope.
It's about creating a life that no longer requires you to abandon yourself just to keep everything running.

A LITTLE MORE CLARITY
Your Questions Answered.
-
Chronic stress can show up as persistent overwhelm, irritability, difficulty relaxing, sleep disruption, physical tension, or emotional exhaustion. You may still be functioning well outwardly while struggling internally. Therapy can help you explore these experiences and identify what support may be helpful.
-
Absolutely. While changing overwhelming circumstances can be an important part of recovery, we recognize that not everyone can simply quit their job, reduce their responsibilities, or step away from the people who depend on them.
Therapy can help you understand how you're responding to those demands and identify opportunities to create change within your current circumstances.
We explore patterns such as over-functioning, perfectionism, people-pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries, and the belief that you must always be the strong one. We also work on practical nervous system regulation strategies, emotional processing, and developing more sustainable ways of navigating stress.
The goal isn't to make you better at tolerating an unsustainable life. It's to help you find ways to support yourself while exploring what might need to change.
-
These experiences can overlap, which is why understanding what you're experiencing matters.
Chronic stress develops when your mind and body are exposed to ongoing demands without sufficient opportunities to recover. High-functioning anxiety is a nonclinical term describing people who experience significant internal anxiety while continuing to perform well outwardly. Depression may involve persistent low mood, loss of interest, hopelessness, fatigue, or difficulty functioning.
You might experience more than one of these at the same time. For example, someone who has spent years pushing through chronic stress may eventually notice emotional exhaustion, anxiety, or depressive symptoms.
In therapy, we explore your symptoms, history, current stressors, and emotional patterns to better understand your experience and develop an appropriate treatment plan.

At The Path Wellness Center, we take an integrative, mind-body approach to chronic stress therapy. Rather than focusing exclusively on managing symptoms, we explore the emotional, behavioral, relational, and physiological patterns that may be contributing to your stress.
Depending on your needs, treatment may incorporate somatic awareness and grounding practices to support nervous system regulation; IFS-informed parts work to explore inner criticism, perfectionism, and over-responsibility; cognitive and behavioral strategies to change stress-maintaining patterns; and relational approaches to strengthen boundaries and communication.
When unresolved trauma is contributing to current difficulties, EMDR or Brainspotting may also be considered as part of your individualized treatment plan.
Our goal is to help you develop practical tools for navigating stress while creating space for deeper emotional understanding and meaningful change.

Individual therapy sessions are typically 50-60 minutes, with options for weekly, biweekly, or less frequent appointments depending on your needs, goals, and therapist availability.
At The Path Wellness Center, we believe therapy should meet you where you are, not add another layer of stress to an already demanding life. The frequency of your sessions is a collaborative, client-guided decision, taking into consideration your emotional needs, therapeutic goals, schedule, and financial circumstances.
While more frequent sessions may be beneficial during certain periods, we also recognize the importance of creating a realistic and sustainable commitment. We'll work together to find a rhythm that supports your progress without adding unnecessary pressure to your time, finances, or well-being.
Therapy should be a space that supports your life, not another responsibility you're struggling to manage.

The Path Wellness Center is a private-pay practice, with standard individual therapy sessions listed at $175–$200 per 50-60 minute session, depending on the clinician. Please confirm current fees during your consultation.
We are not in-network with insurance companies and do not bill insurance directly. However, if your health insurance plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, you may qualify for partial reimbursement.
We can provide a superbill containing the information your insurance company may require to process a reimbursement claim. Coverage varies by plan, and reimbursement is not guaranteed.
We recommend contacting your insurance provider before beginning therapy to ask about out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits, deductibles, reimbursement rates, and any requirements for telehealth services.

Yes! We offer in-person therapy at our El Dorado Hills office and secure online therapy for clients throughout California.
Online therapy can be particularly helpful for people navigating demanding schedules, caregiving responsibilities, or work-related stress. You can access support without adding a commute to an already full day.
Whether we meet virtually or in person, our goal is to provide a supportive, collaborative environment where you can explore your experiences and develop meaningful tools for change.

It's understandable to feel hesitant about beginning therapy again if your previous experience didn't lead to the changes you hoped for.
Sometimes traditional talk therapy provides valuable insight, but understanding why you're stressed doesn't necessarily change how your body responds to it or the patterns that keep you overwhelmed.
Our integrative approach considers your thoughts, emotions, nervous system responses, relationships, and lived experiences. Depending on your needs, we may incorporate somatic interventions, parts work, or trauma-focused approaches alongside traditional psychotherapy.
Different approaches work for different people. We welcome conversations about what has and hasn't helped in the past so we can thoughtfully tailor your care.
Start by scheduling a free 20-minute phone consultation a chance to connect with one of our therapists, share what you're experiencing, and explore how we can support you.
